Friday was Tu Ha’s last day. She was leaving Saturday for Uganda and another mission. We had really appreciated her willingness to serve and her servant heart (even though she did make us feel old with her old people comments!!) On Saturday morning she made us a delicious breakfast.

We were told that a new surgeon with her resident and medical student were going to arrive Friday and start at clinic on Monday. I have to admit I was a little concerned …what if they didn’t get on with us ….what if they didn’t want to play games or were arrogant surgeons. I was a little apprehensive (though Tu Ha did say if they were from the south they were probably okay.) Also a poster had been placed which made me a little intimidated

Well Friday evening arrived and they came – Praise, Brenda and Katelyn …and they are lovely. Not at all arrogant and very chatty and funny ….and they played the card game Golf on Friday night and Skip bo and Golf during the weekend!.

Why do I worry … My mum always said 80% of he things we worry about don’t happen, 15 % of the things we worry about happen but are not as bad as we thought and that means only 5% of things we worry about even happen and are bad.

We had a relaxing weekend, getting caught up on reading, washing and going for groceries. I also made scones and banana bread. We went to the English service again on Sunday ( and realized our housekeeper sang in the worship band).

On Monday morning after worship at chapel there is a report by the clinical officers about the patients admitted over the weekend.

Clinic was good. I diagnosed a couple of people with diabetes and H pylori . I also realized the importance of talking to the patient. I was listening to one guy’s chest when I saw his ear….and felt certain he had a basal cell carcinoma. Then I looked at his other ear and realized he had the same lesion / hole on that ear. Turns out when he was young he stuck sticks in his ears as decoration.

Only two clinic days left. Definitely looking forward to the safari on Saturday but will be sad to leave here. There is so much need.
