After an uneventful journey, I arrived safely in Arequipa — and I’m very happy to report that all my luggage made it too! That always feels like the first small victory of any mission trip.
I was met at the airport by Adrianna and Sara, and it was so special to see them again. There is something grounding about being welcomed by familiar faces after a long travel day. Shortly after, we connected with the Cedarville University team and Dr. Sara, whom I’ve had the privilege of working with before. It already feels like a wonderful group to serve alongside.

We headed to the hotel where I’m rooming with Sara. After dropping our bags, we grabbed a quick lunch — a delicious empanada — before heading out for a city tour. Arequipa is such a beautiful city, surrounded by mountains and full of charm.

One of our more adventurous stops was an alpaca factory… which also had a zip line! About half the team bravely decided to give it a try. I opted to keep my feet firmly on the ground — the overnight travel was definitely catching up with me by then.

Good Food and Good Company
For supper, Crystal and I shared a pizza that was absolutely delicious. There’s something about simple food and good company that makes everything taste better.
Back at the hotel, I distributed the team t-shirts (and was very glad to finally get them out of my suitcase!). After a quick call to Ric, a hot shower, and now the welcome sight of bed, I am more than ready to rest.
Grateful to be here. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings.
