We were excited to go to Masai Mara game reserve as we had heard it was a great place to see animals. I had visited there many moons ago and had fond memories of seeing lots of animals. (That time my sister and I camped in a very basic two man tent with no running water etc.)
We left after breakfast and our driver was concerned. There had been a lot of rain so the main road was washed out. We had to drive along a very bumpy, pot holed, gravel road and it took 6 hours. Eventually we arrived seeing zebras and giraffes along the way.
The tent again was beautiful although they suggested no food in the tent as the monkeys and baboons would try and steal it.

The food here was awesome – table service not buffet. After lunch we went on a game drive. At the Fairmont Mari they provided their own drivers so David got a rest. (He got bored also) Initially we were sharing a truck with a young man Jamie who was also with Samaritans purse but in a hospital near Tenwick. There was also an Austrian father and daughter.
The nice thing about this part of the Masai Mara is this was a private conservatory. This meant we could drive off road which was fun. When the driver spotted an animal, he just took off after it, across the grass. On the first evening apart from seeing zebra’s Wildebeast and gazelles we also saw a pride of lions and watched them until sunset.
